Shake James x adidas Samba

adidas are back marking 414 Day, linking once again with Milwaukee’s own Eric ‘Shake’ James for a release that builds on last year’s Forum Low. Commemorating the city’s area code, the annual celebration serves as a moment for Milwaukeeans to come together and celebrate the accomplishments, traditions and spirit of the Cream City.

This time around, the focus shifts to the Samba, reworked with a POV-led idea that takes from aerial views of Milwaukee, shaping the design around the area’s layout. As a result, elements of the city’s north and south sides are subtly worked into the upper, keeping the silhouette detailed but still easy to wear.

The colour palette also does the same, keeping things simple and versatile. A cream base sits at the core of the pair, while black stripes, red hits and a gum sole add contrast. Meanwhile, smaller details tell the story – directional cues point to different parts of the community, while a viewfinder graphic on the tongue ties everything back to the theme and gives the model its name.

Speaking on the upcoming drop, Eric ‘Shake’ James said: 'I’ve always believed a sneaker should stand for something. This one is about pride in where you come from, and making sure the next generation sees that their story matters too.'

There’s also a much bigger tie-in beyond just the Samba itself. Each pair comes with access to this year’s Summerfest, which runs over three weekends from late June into early July and brings a stacked lineup that includes Post Malone, Ed Sheeran, Jelly Roll, Don Toliver, Chase B, and more.

The launch will also come to life through a run of community events on 414 Day, with hands-on workshops where creatives can customise sneakers, plus an in-store launch experience built around bringing people together.

You can cop the Shake James x adidas Samba ‘View Finder’ on April 11 exclusively through SNEEX, both in-store and online, for $140.

In other news, Nike are bringing back the Air Max 95 ‘Slate’ for the first time in over a decade.
